OK, so you've finally broken down and gotten yourself one of those iPhone things, and you're wondering what all the fuss has been about. Sure, it's cool to look at. But what does the iPhone offer for the Broadway aficionado?
Well, you're in luck, my friend. Because now your iPhone can not only allow you to locate the nearest Starbucks and make a video of your dog chasing his tail, it can also offer you a sleek new portal to the world of New York theater and beyond. Check out the new iBroadway app. It's got a number of really cool features, including show listings, ticket information, discounts, photos, and videos.
It also has links to a number of respected theater blogs, including Aaron Riccio's That Sounds Cool, Jan Simpson's Broadway & Me, and...oh, wait...could that be *my* blog listed there as well? (Yeah, I know. Sometimes I'm just unbearable...) Yes, all the build-up was simply to inform you that my blog feed is part of the new iBroadway app, and I'm really interested to see how this thing develops. It's off to a genuinely solid start. It's got some really great info, and, heck, it's free. So, why don't you sidle on over to iTunes when you get a sec and check it out. And let me know what you think.
On a more somber note, one of the other blog feeds included in the app is that of the late Patrick Lee of Just Shows to Go You. On the same day that I heard the iBroadway app was released, I also heard that Patrick had passed away suddenly last week at the age of 51. It was rather surreal to see Patrick's logo and feed included within the new app. Patrick's last post was only about a week ago. I'm sure that my readers join me in keeping Patrick's family and friends in their thoughts.
